An Appeal to our Global Community

Dear friends,

I’m hoping you’ve had the chance to read the most recent updates about Red Sweater Project. Though the situation may seem dire, we at Red Sweater Project are doing all we can to ensure that the students at Mungere come out of this global pandemic stronger.

We have maintained all of our staff in Tanzania; our U.S. staff remain eager to return; and the school facility is ready to welcome students back when the time is right.

Though Red Sweater Project has received some funding from the U.S. government, our activities in Tanzania are not eligible for COVID-related government relief. Through careful planning, we aim to maintain a stable financial position through the summer. But our reduction in income from tours and spring fundraising efforts means that our ability to continue to serve our students relies heavily on our global community.

We have been blown away by our teachers’ ability to pivot to support our students through distance education. As we continue to weather this storm, any investment you make in our teachers will help stabilize the future of each and every one of Mungere’s students.
