Letters from our Students.
We asked several students from Form I to Form III to write letters in English expressing how Mungere school has impacted their everyday lives and their goals for the future.
English language learning is a big part of secondary school in Tanzania and each student learns at their own pace. For many, English is their second or third language after Swahili and their native tribal tongues.

SERAPHIUS, FORM III
“My name is Seraphius Phelian, I am 16 years old, and I am in form three. My favorite subjects include Physics, chemistry and Geography. I also like Biology. Here at school I like every teacher because I understand them well when they are teaching in class or even when they are giving out the instructions outside the classroom. I want to be a doctor after school because I think that will be a better job for me since I like to help my fellow Tanzanians and also the foreigners.
Here at school I like how teachers teach us in class and also playing basketball because I like playing basketball with my friends.
The school has changed my life because before coming to school I never knew how to speak English language, but now I think that it’s an easier language than even Swahili and also here at school I have gained different skills like how to grow different crops through agriculture subjects which I never knew before. So I think my life will be better even after school.”

SHABANI, FORM III
“What I like from Mungere Secondary School is the way that teachers and students cooperate together in all matters outside and inside of the school compound and also the presence of learning materials such as books and chemicals to do practical[s] in the laboratory. Mungere Secondary School has changed my life as I can speak English differently from when I was in other school (primary school) and showing me the way that every goal can be achieved in life if I just work hard as I started focusing on who I wanted to be in my future life. Mungere Secondary School has also taught me to respect and value every person without considering tribe and even religion.”
